In a previous published paper entitle “Proposal of a Cleanable VP Shunt for Hydrocephalus”, and published by the same author of this paper. It used the term “S” shaped VP shunt by a mistake; therefore this paper comes to correct what have been published in that paper.
The “S” shaped filter cause over draining, while the “P” shaped filter is prevent over draining. The author might used the term the “S” shaped in the previous published paper by mistake [1], in some of the illustrations show a “P” shaped and some showed an “S” shaped tip which made some confusion [2,3]; therefore; this paper will clarify any issues and states it in a clear way. It is a “P” shaped trap which will prevent over draining of the cerebrospinal fluid see (Fig. 1).
Those are simple pluming terms the “P” shaped trap and the “S” shaped tarp used in pluming in kitchens and restrooms with the pipes. The uniform pluming code in the United States state that using the “S” shaped trap in pluming is illegal because it will drains the water and will not stop the sewer methanol from coming inside the house; therefore; it is banned [4]. Similarly the “S” shaped VP shunt will drain all the cerebrospinal fluid out of the brain, but the “P” shunt will take the extra amount of the cerebrospinal fluid to the peritoneal cavity
